Students Named to Colby-Sawyer College Dean's List

Colby-Sawyer College recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2016 spring semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

Baccalaureate Award Recipient

Baccalaureate awards are presented to the graduating students in each baccalaureate program who are selected by the faculty for their interest and excellence within the major. Recipients must be full-time students and have completed at least 50 percent of their credits for graduation while attending Colby-Sawyer.

Women's Tennis NEAC East Division Champions

The Colby-Sawyer Women's Tennis team, comprised of 12 student-athletes, is led by Head Coach Barry Schoonmaker and Assistant Coaches Jen (LaChance) Taylor '10 and Elizabeth Lincoln. The team won their fourth straight NAC/NEAC Crossover Championship on Sunday, May 8.

The Barbara Johnson Stearns Award honors a member of the senior class who best demonstrates exemplary leadership and dedication to the college community. The award was established in 1982 by Barbara Johnson Stearns, a member of the Class of 1932, who was an outstanding example of the characteristics she chose to support and reinforce in others.

The Colby-Sawyer College Honor Society for Nursing is dedicated the improving the health of people worldwide by increasing the scientific base of nursing practice. Members must have a GPA of 3.0, rank in the top 35 percent of their graduating class, meet the expectation of academic integrity, and obtain faculty endorsements.

Member of Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology

The purpose of this national honor society in psychology is to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in scholarship and to advance the science of psychology. Members must rank in the top 35 percent of the class, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in psychology courses. They must have completed at least three college semesters and nine credits of psychology courses and be enrolled in a program of study with strong psychological content.

Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration

The international honor society in business, management and administration honors the academic excellence and integrity of business administration majors. Members must rank in the top 20 percent of the senior class or the top ten percent of the junior class, have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0, and show a record of academic honesty and integrity. Sigma beta Delta members are expected to embrace its principles of wisdom, honorable service and the pursuit of meaningful aspirations.

Member of Iota Tau Alpha Honor Society for Athletic Training Education

The purpose of Iota Tau Alpha Honor Society is to promote, recognize and encourage outstanding scholarly achievement of students enrolled in the athletic training education major. Members must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and rank in the top 35 percent of their class. Honor cords of red, yellow and blue are worn by graduates.

The college's chapter of this national honor society in communication studies fosters and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement in the field of communication. Members must have completed 60 credit hours, with 12 in communication studies courses, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, a minimum GPA of 3.25 in communication studies courses, and rank in the top 30 percent of their class.

Five Colby-Sawyer senior nursing students completed a research project in conjuction with the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic in Tampa, Fla. Associate Professor of Nursing and Public Health Shari Goldberg, Ph.D., R.N., served as supervisor to the students.
