Colby-Sawyer College

Colby-Sawyer is pleased to announce the second class of students chosen as members of the Presidential Blue Key Society (PBKS). Selected to embody and inspire the learning spirit of Colby-Sawyer, the students will be formally recognized at the Presidential Blue Key Society Induction Ceremony during Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Colby-Sawyer College student-athlete Peter Bakker of Barkhamsted, Conn., was named the Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week by both the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and the East Coast Atlantic Conference (ECAC).

Led by Head Coach Emily Rinde-Thorsen and Assistant Coaches Emily Hoar and Jodi Dumayne, the team is comprised of 22 student-athletes including six first-year students, eight sophomores, six juniors and two seniors.

Led by Head Coach Barry Schoonmaker and Assistant Coaches Jen Taylor, Elizabeth Lincoln and Lynn Miller, the team is comprised of 14 student-athletes including three first-year students, four sophomores and seven juniors.

Led by Head Brett Sayer and Assistant Coaches Scott Fitzgerald, Sarah Hannon, Michelle Doody and Callie Dolan, the team is comprised of 17 student-athletes including ten first-year students, three sophomores, two juniors and two seniors.

Formally known as CSC Riffed, Vocally Charged is Colby-Sawyer's a capella group and the only student run musical organization on campus. Members arrange music and perform at a variety of on- and off-campus events.

Improv Anonymous is Colby-Sawyer's improvisational comedy group. A branch of the CSC Players, Improv Anonymous meets several times a week to practice improvisational comedy skills and performs throughout the school year.

This Fall Colby-Sawyer hosted "Breaking the Mold," a collaborative art exhibition with Tokyo University of the Arts and several other institutions in New Hampshire. The show included pieces from world renowned ceramicists as well as student work.

Student ambassadors are responsible for greeting the college's guests, taking them to lunch, showing them around campus and hosting prospective students for overnight visits.

A Colby-Sawyer student-led initiative led to recognition of the college's responsible land management. The N.H. Tree Farm Program formally recognized Colby-Sawyer's 86-acre Kelsey Forest as the state's newest member of the American Tree Farm System.

Class Board officers promote class unity and communicate with their class; address class issues or bring issues to the Student Government Association; plan and implement class activities; initiate fundraising to support class programming; and fill Student Government Association senator vacancies.

Colby-Sawyer welcomed 297 new students to campus, including first-year students, transfers and the college's first cohort of graduate students set to earn a master's of science in nursing.

One hundred percent of Colby-Sawyer's 2016 athletic training graduates who sat for the Board of Certification passed on their first attempt.

Led by Head Coach Meghan Medbery and Assistant Coaches Shay Spencer and Sarah Little, the team is comprised of 29 student-athletes including six first-year students, seven sophomores, nine juniors and seven seniors.

Led by Head Coach Charles Metz and Assistant Coach Alex Ortega '15, the Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team is comprised of 27 student athletes including five first-year students, ten sophomores, nine juniors and three seniors.

For their professional success, future contributions to the health care of New Hampshire's citizens, and their commitment to the health and well-being of their fellow citizens, New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan recognized Colby-Sawyer College's exceptional 2016 undergraduate nursing class with a commendation at the Governor and Executive Council meeting held on campus Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Internships are field experiences designed to provide a student learning opportunity under collaborative supervision between Colby-Sawyer College faculty, staff, and work site professionals. Internships offer the opportunity for students to enhance their academic programs with work experience related to career interests in all industry areas in national and international settings.

New Hampshire IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (NH-INBRE) research assistantships are funded through a federal grant designed to enhance biomedical research training and opportunities across New Hampshire. The five-year, $15.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health has funded a research network which includes Colby-Sawyer College students and faculty.

To be named all-region, a student-athlete must either be ranked in the top five of an individual event in the region according to the final TFRRS data or be part of a top three relay team.

Colby-Sawyer student athlete Amanda Martin has been named the North Atlantic Conference's Women's Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year on May 16.

Colby-Sawyer College student-athlete Emily Lopez of Lincolnville, Maine, was named Women's Track Athlete of the Year on May 16 by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).

Colby-Sawyer student Rebecca Hashem of Webster, Mass., was named Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year by the North Atlantic Conference on May 16.

Colby-Sawyer College student-athlete Rachel Quaye of Westminster, Mass., was named Women's Field Athlete of the Year on May 16 by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).
