Colby-Sawyer College

The Colby-Sawyer College Women's cross country team travels throughout New England competing in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Led by Head Coach Lyndsay Bisaccio and Assistant Coach Lisa Lacombe, the team is comprised of 17 student-athletes including two first-year students, eight sophomores, four juniors and three seniors.

Led by Head Coach Craig Wilkinson and Assistant Coach Kevin Flaherty, the Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team is comprised of 30 student athletes including 15 first-year students, five sophomores, three juniors and seven seniors.

Colby-Sawyer College welcomes 381 first-year students during the fall of 2014.

Internships are field experiences designed to provide a student learning opportunity under collaborative supervision between Colby-Sawyer College faculty, staff, and work site professionals. Internships offer the opportunity for students to enhance their academic programs with work experience related to career interests in all industry areas in national and international settings.

Colby-Sawyer College recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2014 spring semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

The Senior Achievement Award is presented each year to a graduate who has distinguished himself or herself through leadership in the co-curricular life of the college. The recipient of this award is nominated by faculty and staff.

The Barbara Johnson Stearns Award honors a member of the senior class who best demonstrates exemplary leadership and dedication to the college community. The award was established in 1982 by Barbara Johnson Stearns, a member of the Class of 1932, who was an outstanding example of the characteristics she chose to support and reinforce in others.

The Colby-Sawyer Award is given to the senior who, in the opinion of the faculty, best exemplifies the ideals of the college in personal dignity, intellectual growth, contribution to campus life and constructive influence on other students.

The Class of 2014 Commencement Speaker Medal is presented to a student who represents the character of the graduating class and will give an inspirational and engaging speech that represents the college's values and learning outcomes.

History and Political Studies major Shangyu Yan '15 presented a research paper at the First World Congress of the International Association of Political Science Students (IAPSS) held in Thessaloniki, Greece from March 31 to April 4.

Awards are presented by the college each spring to the sophomore, junior, and senior students who rank highest in scholarship in the appropriate class. The recipients of these awards must be full-time students who have completed at least fifty percent of their credits at Colby-Sawyer College.

This award is granted to the student or students who have distinguished themselves through the exercise of spiritual and/or moral leadership in the college community, or through academic work informed by their religious commitments.

Ge Huang of China received the 2014 Edith Stockman Ruettinger Award during the Scholars and Leaders Awards Ceremony at the Sawyer Fine Arts Center Theater on Friday, May 9.

Hermella Tekle received the 2014 Ann Gulick Award during the Scholars and Leaders Awards Ceremony held at the Sawyer Fine Arts Center Theater on Friday, May 9.

Nicole Bent, Hannah McPhedran, Erin Swanson, and Abigail Wurtele received the 2014 Nursing Capstone Award for their year-long experience with the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice (LSRVNA).

Adrienne Bender, Nicole Courtney, Ashley Fruzzetti, and Ryleigh Osborne received the 2014 Exercise and Sport Sciences Capstone Award for their project "Nutritional Knowledge, Behaviors, and Intake in College-Aged Females."

Nicholas Ciarlante, Rebecca Ferman, Cong Geng, Hang Nguyen, and Alexander Scribner received the 2014 Business Capstone Award for their management of Stelaire, a fictitious airline.

The Colby-Sawyer College chapter of this national honor society recognizes the academic achievement of juniors and seniors. To be eligible for membership a student must rank in the top ten percent of the junior or senior class and demonstrate the Alpha Chi values of truth and character.

The Colby-Sawyer College Honor Society for Nursing is dedicated the improving the health of people worldwide by increasing the scientific base of nursing practice. Members must have a GPA of 3.0, rank in the top 35 percent of their graduating class, meet the expectation of academic integrity, and obtain faculty endorsements.

The college's chapter of this national honor society in communication studies fosters and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement in the field of communication. Members must have completed 60 credit hours, with 12 in communication studies courses, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, a minimum GPA of 3.25 in communication studies courses, and rank in the top 30 percent of their class.

The Capstone experience differs from major to major, but its purpose is to ensure that all seniors demonstrate their accumulated knowledge through action and effectively communicate their knowledge and actions to others in an interdisciplinary setting.

Baccalaureate awards are presented to the graduating students in each baccalaureate program who are selected by the faculty for their interest and excellence within the major. Recipients must be full-time students and have completed at least 50 percent of their credits for graduation while attending Colby-Sawyer.

The David H. Winton Baccalaureate Award is presented to the baccalaureate degree graduate or graduates who rank highest in scholarship among those in the graduating class.

Awards are presented by the college each spring the sophomore, junior, and senior students who rank highest in scholarship in the appropriate class. The recipients of these awards must be full-time students who have completed at least fifty percent of their credits at Colby-Sawyer.

Baccalaureate awards are presented to the graduating students in each baccalaureate program who are selected by the faculty for their interest and excellence within the major. Recipients must be full-time students and have completed at least 50 percent of their credits for graduation while attending Colby-Sawyer.

The Graduate Award is presented each spring to the member of the graduating class whose character and influence most constructively affected the majority of the junior class members. The recipient of this award is chosen by the junior class.
