The Edith B. Long Scholarship is presented annually at the Gladys Greenbaum Meyers Juried Student Art Exhibition. To be considered for this award students must enter five works to be juried by the faculty. The scholarship was established in 1964 in memory of "Coco" Long and is awarded each year to returning students who demonstrate outstanding ability and interest in art.

Each year, Tomie dePaolo, internationally renowned author and artist, former Colby-Sawyer faculty member and long-time supporter of the Fine and Performing Arts Department, chooses high-grade artist papers from his own studio-paper collection to be awarded to deserving student artists. This year 13 students were recognized with the Whitebird Award for their work in ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor and mixed-media.
