Colby-Sawyer College

Established in 1994, the Charlotte Cobb Stahl Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of a member of the class of 1951. The scholarship is awarded each year to students of the fine arts at Colby-Sawyer.

The Edith B. Long Scholarship in Art was established in 1964 in the memory of "Coco" Long, class of 1964. The scholarship is given each year to returning students who demonstrate outstanding ability and interest in art.

As the college's largest annual art exhibtion, the Gladys Greenbaum Meyers '39 Juried Student Art Exhibition features student work in a variety of disciplines, including ceramics, graphic design, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and mixed media.

Presented by the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, the Free Enterprise Marathon is a collegiate-level competition encourages students to become better informed about the importance of free enterprise and rewards students' creativity and innovativeness.

Led by Head Coach Barry Schoonmaker and Assistant Coaches Reeve Fidler and Lynn Miller, with captain Alex Wright '19.

Led by Head Coach Charles Metz and Assistant Coach Ryan Limero with team co-captains Noah Camelo '19, Anthony Romeo '19 and Matt Schiller '19.

In its inaugural season, the team is led by head coach Josh Anderson and assistant coaches Scott Fitzgerald, Michelle Doody and Sarah Hannon with co-captains Patrick Coffey '19, AJ Gnieski '22 and Orlando Piagata '22.

Led by Head Coach Pam Payson and Assistant Coach Jerilyn Nieder, the team is comprised of 14 student-athletes including seven first-year students, four sophomores, two juniors and one senior.

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Colby-Sawyer has been selected to join the BOLD Women's Leadership Network, a highly selective national program of female scholars, and was awarded a three-year, $1.1 million grant for scholarships and transformational campus projects. Colby-Sawyer's initial cohort of BOLD scholars are seven juniors who are female or identify as female, as stipulated by the program, and are first-generation students from rural locations in northern New England who are in good standing at the college.

Under the direction of adjunct faculty member in the Fine and Performing Arts Aaron Jones, an ensemble of students and community members performed a festive variety of choral works, folk songs and holiday favorites. Friday, Dec. 14 at the Sawyer Center Theater.

Colby-Sawyer College recognizes 226 students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2018 fall semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

Colby-Sawyer's Fine and Performing Arts Department presents the dance ensemble "Boundless" on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Sawyer Center Theater.

CSC Dance Club presents "An Evening of Dance" on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Sawyer Center Theater.

President Susan D. Stuebner has declared November 28, 2018 as Resident Assistant Appreciation Day at Colby-Sawyer College, in recognition of the outstanding work that Resident Assistants do to support all students, develop communities based on individual responsibility and respect for others, and provide opportunities for student learning.

Athletic training students toured the Geisel School of Medicine Anatomy Laboratory guided by a lab proctor and Colby-Sawyer faculty. Sponsored by the student-led Athletic Training Club, the 2018 visit marks the fifth year the lab experience has been offered to students in the major.

Student Ambassadors are responsible for welcoming prospective students and families to Colby-Sawyer, leading campus tours and hosting overnight visits.

The Colby-Sawyer College chapter of this national honor society recognizes the academic achievement of juniors and seniors. To be eligible for membership a student must rank in the top ten percent of the junior or senior class and demonstrate the Alpha Chi values of truth and character.

The Emerging Leaders Program helps students develop their leadership potential through workshops and experiential learning opportunities that lay the foundation for students to become confident, aware and engaged leaders.

Meaza Petros '19 was accepted to present at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference in Portland, Ore. in March with Associate Professor of Humanities and poet Ewa Chrusciel; their panel proposal, "Hoopoes and Dybbuks: Immigrant and Refugee Voices," was one of 500 selected from more than 2,000.
