Stephanie Malicki Shines in Project Green Challenge

This year, Colby-Sawyer joined high schools and colleges from around the world in Project Green Challenge. Every day in October, students received a call-to-action in categories ranging from zero-waste and food to fashion, energy and wellbeing - and they earned points for their participation. Students from Colby-Sawyer's Eco-Reps and Sustainability Core helped gather registrants and provide encouragement throughout the month.

Stephanie Malicki '18 from Enfield, Conn., who is on-track to be the college's first graduate of the community-based sustainability major, was in first place among 4,018 students during part of the competition. And, due in part to her extraordinary efforts, Colby-Sawyer finished 36th out of 536 schools from 37 countries.

"I have never been so passionate and so inspired; I can see my future changing," said Malicki. "I know that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life; I want to always have this love for the environment and for a more sustainable future."
