Shannon St. Peter Recognized With Richard Crosby Memorial Award

2017 May 10

Shannon St. Peter was awarded the Richard Crosby Memorial Award at Colby-Sawyer's Scholars and Leaders Ceremony on Friday, May 5. The annual ceremony honors students for their academic and leadership achievements during their time at Colby-Sawyer College.

The Richard Crosby Memorial Award was established in 1976 in honor of Professor Crosby, a member of the English Department from 1952 to 1976. The award is given to a student who excels in the knowledge and appreciation of British literature.

St. Peter was selected to receive the award due to her standout Capstone project "Birds Beyond the Cage: Redefining Social Conventions and Gaining Agency in Jane Eyre and Tess of the d'Urbervilles," her completion of all courses in British Literature with exemplary research projects, and her passion for the origins and the future of English literature which she shared as a Teaching Assistant.

St. Peter graduated cum laude from Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, May 6 with a B.A. in English.
