Rebecca Hashem Named Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year

Colby-Sawyer College Women's Outdoor Track and Field athlete Rebecca Hashem of Webster, N.H., was named Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) on May 16. Hashem majored in Nursing and graduated as a member of the class of 2016.

Hashem is being recognized for excelling academically and athletically throughout her undergraduate experience, while serving as a role model in both the classroom and while competing. The Nursing major was the recipient of the 2016 Colby-Sawyer Award and the Wynne Jesser McGrew Senior Scholar-Athlete Award. She has served as the secretary for the Student Government Association, as the Vice-President of SAAC and is a member of both the Alpha Chi Honor Society and the Nursing Honor Society. She is a three-sport student-athlete as she also competes on the field hockey and the indoor track & field teams. She has taken on the role of captain for all three sports and has proven to be a great leader. At the NAC Championship, Hashem recorded a second-place finish in the hammer throw and a third-place finish in the discus. She was selected NAC Field Athlete of the Week once this season.

The NAC is an athletic conference, affiliated with the NCAA's Division III, consisting primarily of small liberal arts colleges throughout New England, including: Castleton State College, Colby-Sawyer College, University of Maine at Farmington, Green Mountain College, Husson University, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College, Maine Maritime Academy, New England College, Thomas College.
