Rachel Quaye Named Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year

Rachel Quaye of the women's soccer and indoor/outdoor track & field teams was honored with the Charger Award for this year's Outstanding Female Athlete. The award is given to a female who has extraordinary athletic ability and has contributed the most to her team, the College and the world of sport. The award is a token of hard work, good judgment, understanding and determination.

During the fall soccer season, Rachel was named to the All-NAC First Team for the second straight season. In addition to being named All-NAC, Rachel became the fourth Colby-Sawyer women's soccer player to be named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-New England Region. She was named to the third team. Rachel led the team with 19 points on eight goals and three assists to bring her career totals to 18 goals, nine assists and 45 points. Rachel, who was named NAC Player of the Week once, finished with a team best four game-winning goals. She also was named to the NAC Sportsmanship Team. Rachel also served as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for the women's soccer team.

Rachel carried her success from the soccer season straight into the indoor track & field season. In her primary event, shot put, Rachel never finished outside of the top-8 in both regular season and post-season. She also saw one individual win and a pair of second place finishes. In the open shot put, Rachel finished eighth at New England's and ECAC's to earn All-New England and All-ECAC honors. Rachel reset her own school record in the event as well, throwing well over 40 feet. In addition, Rachel also competes in the indoor and outdoor multi, a competition that includes a number of running, jumping, throwing and hurdling events. Rachel qualified for New England's in the indoor pentathlon, and as is typical for her, she rose to the occasion when it counted, improving her ranking of 13 out of 16 to finish eighth overall and earn All-New England in the pentathlon.

In the outdoor season thus far, Rachel has earned first and second place finishes in shot put, as well as, qualified for New England's & ECAC's in the shot put and New England's in the outdoor heptathlon.

Rachel majors in Business Administration and is a member of the class of 2017.
