Kimberly Adjutant Featured in Kearsarge Chorale Performance

2015 Nov 12

Kearsarge Chorale presents its fall concert "Bach in Blue" on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m. in the Sawyer Center Theater at the Sawyer Fine and Performing Arts Center. The 60-singer ensemble features community members and three Colby-Sawyer students, including Kimberly Adjutant.

Adjutant, a member of the class of 2017 studying Multidisciplinary Studies , sings alto with the Chorale.

Accompanied by a brass quintet and pianist, will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's "Cantata 106" and Will Tod's "Mass in Blue," a Latin mass setting for choir, soprano and jazz ensemble. Concert seating is by general admission with a suggested donation of $10. A reception will follow the concert.

The Chorale will also hold a silent auction starting at 2:30 p.m. The 18 items in the auction include gift certificates to local establishments such as Tucker's and Mountain Edge Resort, as well as homemade goods like quilts and paintings donated by Dorr Mill and residents of the Greater New London community.

The Kearsarge Chorale held open rehearsals for "Bach in Blue" in September as part of its autonomous agreement with Colby-Sawyer established in spring 2014. Created to enhance the college's music curriculum and provide a permanent performance venue for the Chorale, the agreement allows Colby-Sawyer students to audition for membership in the Chorale and receive academic credit as well as recognition as Kearsarge Chorale Honors Vocalists.

Founded in 2009, the nonprofit Chorale is composed of volunteer regional musicians performing under the artistic direction of David L. Almond. Almond has extensive experience as a teacher, lecturer, baritone soloist, accompanist, conductor and composer. He is an associate of the American Guild of Organists and the Worship Music Committee Resource Person for the N.H. Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Almond is also an adjunct professor at Colby-Sawyer.
