Jesse Socci to Receive the 2015 Colby-Sawyer Award

2015 Apr 9

Jesse Socci of Wilton will receive the 2015 Colby-Sawyer Award during the 177th Colby-Sawyer College Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 9.

The Colby-Sawyer Award is given to the senior who, in the opinion of the faculty, best exemplifies the ideals of the college in personal dignity, intellectual growth, contribution to campus life and constructive influence on other students. A sport management major and business administration minor, who is also completing his coaching certificate, Socci will be recognized for his dedication to Colby-Sawyer since coming to campus in 2011. Soon after his arrival, he co-founded the Sport Management Club and has served as its president ever since. Socci was a senator in the Student Government Association for two years and an Orientation Leader for three, as well as vice president of the ESS club. He has also been a member and three-year captain of the Track and Field Team as well as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, of which he is now vice president.

"Jesse is the epitome of personal dignity, intellectual growth, exemplary leadership, and contributing to campus life," said one nominator. "Rarely have I seen a student more dedicated to the college community or one who has had such a significant impact on other students by way of his various leadership roles -- Jesse is simply the 'poster child' for Colby-Sawyer College. I have never met another student like him and will be extremely fortunate if I ever do again."
