Jaclyn Goddette Graduates from Colby-Sawyer College

Jaclyn Goddette of Newport graduated Summa Cum Laude from Colby-Sawyer College's Wesson Honors Program with B.A. in English. Goddette ranked highest in scholarship among those in her graduating class and was presented with the The David H. Winton Baccalaureate Award during Commencement on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

At the 2016 Scholars and Leaders Awards Ceremony, Goddette earned the Carl M. Cochran English Baccalaureate Award and the English Capstone Award for her work on "Body Language: How Morrison and Carter Overturn Ideologies Embedded in Literary Representations of the Body." She was twice recognized with the Squires Book Award for academic performance above and beyond expectations, and, in 2014, with the Gula Graves Plummer Award for her moral leadership in the college community. As a member of the Wesson Honors Program, she traveled to Nepal to volunteer at Maya Universe Academy. She is also a member of the national honor society Alpha Chi.

In addition to her academic writing, Goddette has contributed to the college's literary magazine Solidus. As an intern and student employee in the Office of College Communications, Goddette has produced numerous pieces for media outlets across New England and for Colby-Sawyer Magazine.

Goddette has spent recent summers as a camp counselor working with teenagers with behavioral and cognitive issues. She is entertaining a future in law with a focus on nonprofits and education.
