Ge Huang Recognized with 2014 Edith Stockman Ruettinger Award

2014 May 14

Ge Huang received the 2014 Edith Stockman Ruettinger Award at the Scholars and Leaders Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 9. An English major, Huang is the member of the class of 2015.

The Edith Stockman Ruettinger Award is presented to a female student in the liberal arts program selected on the basis of scholarship, character, future goals and need.

"[Ge] is [not only] hard working and takes advantage of every opportunity that comes her way, but is also an incredibly kind individual," said Dean of Students Dave Sauerwein, as he presented the award to Huang. "In her Colby-Sawyer classes, her writing, oral presentations and contributions to discussion have always been excellent."

Haung's paper "Democracy After Tiananmen Square" won the History Prize at the 2014 Alpha Chi conference in St.Louis this spring. "She is always prepared, her work is polished, and she makes thoughtful contributions to class discussions," said a professor about Huang's accomplishments.
