2016 Jun 29

Biology major Evelyn Miller completed a New Hampshire IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (NH-INBRE) funded summer research assistantship at Colby-Sawyer College.

Miller was one of six students selected to be part of the project which centered around the activity of honeybee and bumblebee populations near campus. Students built a hive, caught bumblebees, and spent time in the lab sequencing DNA.

NH-INBRE reasearch assistantships are funded through a federal grant designed to enhance biomedical research training and opportunities across New Hampshire. The five-year, $15.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health has funded a research network which includes Colby-Sawyer College students and faculty.
