Ashlyn Ramsay and Evelyn Miller Receive NEAC East Women's Tennis Weekly Honors

Colby-Sawyer College nursing major Ashlyn Ramsay '16 (Barkhamsted, Conn.) and biology major Evelyn Miller '18 (Smithfield, R.I.) have earned North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Women's Tennis East Division honors.

On October 12, Ramsay earned her fourth Player of the Week award, while Miller was named Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

Ramsay led the Chargers to a fourth straight NEAC East Division title over the October 12-13 weekend. She won all four of her matches in the tournament and was named MVP for the third straight season. In the 9-0 win over Johnson State in the semifinals, Ramsay did not drop a game at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. She followed with two more points in the 6-0 win over Castleton in the finals. She won at No. 1 doubles with teammate Ashley Woodside 8-1 and earned a 6-1, 6-0 at the top singles flight.

Miller won all four of her matches in helping the Chargers to the title and was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. In the team's 9-0 win over Johnson State in the semifinals, Miller and teammate Aislinn O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn.) earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Miller then took her No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-1. In the 6-0 finals victory over Castleton, Miller and O'Connor gave the Chargers their first point with a convincing 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Miller then got the match and title clinching point with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.

The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) is an athletic conference, affiliated with the NCAA 's Division III, consisting primarily of small liberal arts colleges throughout New England, including: Castleton State College, Colby-Sawyer College, University of Maine at Farmington, Green Mountain College, Husson University, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College, Maine Maritime Academy, New England College, Thomas College.
