Alex Wright Named NAC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week

Colby-Sawyer College student-athlete Alex Wright of St. Austell, Cornwall, England, was named Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week on April 25 by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Wright majors in Athletic Training and is a member of the class of 2019.

Wright went 2-1 at singles and 2-0 in doubles to lead the Chargers to a 3-0 week and push the team's win streak to six matches. He recorded an important point with Ross Kenney by winning 8-0 at No. 3 doubles as Colby-Sawyer handed Southern Maine its first loss of the season, 5-4. Wright then picked up a pair of wins in an 8-1 win over Castleton State. He remained unbeaten in conference action by defeating six-time NAC Rookie of the Week Soren Pelz-Walsh in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Wright also earned a No. 3 doubles win with Shawn Bissonette. He ended the week and the conference season with an unblemished singles record after a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top flight in a 9-0 win over Johnson State.

The NAC is an athletic conference, affiliated with the NCAA 's Division III, consisting primarily of small liberal arts colleges throughout New England, including: Castleton State College, Colby-Sawyer College, University of Maine at Farmington, Green Mountain College, Husson University, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College, Maine Maritime Academy, New England College, Thomas College.
